New Moon actress Dakota Fanning looked to be in high spirits Saturday night (February 20) as she was escorted out of Villa Blanca Restaurant. Dakota was celebrating her 16th birthday with family and friends, including little sister Elle Fanning who was right behind Dakota as they left the party.

According to E! Online Dakota celebrated her sweet 16 with around 40 guests who she enjoyed the night with. “She looked like she was having fun and was really cool,” the source says of the dateless star. “She was talking to her friends and laughing all night.”

We caught up with Fanning after she enjoyed a three-layer birthday cake with chocolate mouse, and when asked if she’d be sporting a driver’s license in the near future, she replied: “I don’t even have permit.”
